Graduate Business Analyst. I turn messy data into an answer somebody can act on.

About

Computer science first. Then the part that decides what to build.

Aditya Pratap Yadav
Birmingham, England MSc Business Analytics, UoB BTech Computer Science, VIT

I am a business analytics postgraduate with a computer science degree underneath it. Four years at VIT taught me how software actually gets built. The MSc at Birmingham taught me the part that comes before any of that: sitting with the people who will use the thing, agreeing what counts as success when nobody has written it down, and getting the numbers to say something a manager can act on.

In between I spent eleven months in a data led marketing role in India, owning the monthly reporting that decided where the budget went next. I wrote the rules for which leads were worth passing on, and I was the one presenting the numbers when the spend was being argued over.

Most recently I ran a live client engagement for the University of Birmingham Library with four others, where an open brief had to become something the team could still run after we left. That is the work I want more of: an unclear question at the start, and something usable at the end.

I am in Birmingham, eligible to work in the UK with no sponsorship needed, and looking for a graduate Business Analyst role.

Analytics and consultancy project

From Operational Record to Evidence Base

A five person consultancy engagement for the Research Skills Team inside Libraries and Learning Resources at the University of Birmingham. A live client, their own data, their own deadline. The brief did not say what to build.

June to September 2026Team of fivePython, Tableau, forecasting

The headline said attendance had fallen 48 percent. It had not. The records had.

Forty seven of the 399 sessions had no attendance recorded at all, and only a quarter had a school recorded against them. Once the missing records were accounted for, average attendance per session was almost unchanged. The collapse was in the recording, not in the room.

The real requirement

No KPIs existed, so we agreed them from scratch with the client. The open brief became three ranked workstreams: workshop performance, a reporting asset the team could maintain themselves, and where engagement was missing.

The scope line

Partway through, the remit moved from describing what had happened to predicting what happens next. We put the change in front of the client, agreed what it meant for the deadline, and re-set the scope in writing.

The handover

1,878 records from 2023 to 2026 merged and cleaned in Python, six Tableau dashboards, exponential smoothing forecasts, and a documented pipeline so the team can rerun it without me.

Hold to resolve

Ninety four ways to write one workshop title.

This is the part nobody puts on a CV. Hold the button and watch the data agree with itself.

94 variants

No dashboard is honest until this part is done.

Overview dashboard: total attendees, sessions delivered, average attendance per session, satisfaction and the share of sessions with a school recorded
Overview. The headline numbers, and the footnote that turned out to matter: only 352 of the 399 sessions had attendance recorded at all.
Workshop performance dashboard: highest average attendance per session, top ten workshops, fill rate against planned capacity, and satisfaction plotted against attendance
Workshop performance. Fill rate against planned capacity, and satisfaction plotted against attendance so the client could see where to act rather than just what happened.
Forecast dashboard: attendance forecast, one to one appointment forecast, demand forecast by workshop category and forecast by delivery mode
Forecasts. Exponential smoothing on attendance, one to one appointments, demand by category and delivery mode, so a term can be planned instead of described.
Engagement dashboard: college engagement by service type, which schools use the one to one service, and what can and cannot be attributed to a college
Engagement gaps. Which colleges use which service, and an honest split of what can and cannot be attributed to a college at all.
Service mix dashboard: service mix by college, most requested one to one topics, when each service peaks, and attendance by term and delivery format
Seasonality and service mix. When each service peaks across the academic year, and how attendance splits by term and delivery format.

  • Prepared and presented the monthly Tableau reporting on lead generation spend, campaign return and channel effectiveness, which is what the budget decisions were argued from.

  • Passed pre-qualified leads to the marketing team with a written summary of each client requirement, so follow up was faster and better targeted.
  • Ran and optimised Google Ads campaigns against cost per lead and conversion, tracked through to booked site visits.
  • Owned the end to end social media strategy for a real estate company, driving visibility and inbound leads.
